Most of know to use LinkedIn for professional networking--FOR PEOPLE.

However, most people are employed at different COMPANIES.  Some people are owners of small companies.

How do you create your own Company Page on LinkedIn?

Like most things on the Internet, it's easy...once you know how to do it.

Over 10 Tips for Job Seekers Using LinkedIn

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a post, "Internet Marketing Tip: Over 7 Ways to be More Effective on LinkedIn," which seemed to resonate really well with other LinkedIn users.

However, I've noticed that there are a lot of people who "want" some things, but they are not positioning themselves to get them.
For instance, I keep meeting and seeing writers on LinkedIn who are unemployed or simply want to change jobs, but they do not seem to be putting themselves in the best position to succeed.

How should Job Seekers Use LinkedIn?

Definitely more than Twitter and possibly more an Facebook, LinkedIn can be an incredibly effective tool for writers looking for JOBS.

Here are over ten (10) different suggestions for JOB SEEKERS using LinkedIn.

Internet Marketing Tip: How Twitter and LinkedIn Work Together

Most people know that there are different social media platforms.

Some people know--better than I do--that there are some good strategies that tie together many of these social media platforms.

Twitter gets a lot of popularity, because it is easy to use.  Each Tweet takes a quick moment, and it is relatively easy to get lots of Followers.  (I know some people with tens of 1000's of Followers.)

LinkedIn is nowhere nearly as popular as Twitter, but it holds a lot of power.

We all know that we "should" be using about 1000 different social media platforms in our marketing.  Some people are that good to pull off that feat, but what about the rest of us who can't?  How can we balance our social media marketing (SMM) efforts?

It is easy to spend--and waste--a lot of time on the computer playing around, because it is fun to be social.  It is not always easy to determine when our "socializing" is productive versus simply an escape.

There are many answers--only a few of which I actually know--but I am claiming that you can make Twitter and LinkedIn work together efficiently and productively.

How can Twitter and LinkedIn work together?

Why Big Companies are Seldom Great

I had one my random thoughts this morning.  It's almost IMPOSSIBLE for big companies to be great.

This is an important lesson in marketing...and for analyzing a company.

While I was re-reading the book "Purple Cow" by Seth Godin, I kept reading about ways that some companies were making it, and some companies do not make it.

The discussion triggered some memories for me of when I was working in big companies.  (Sometimes, the companies weren't even that big.)

Before I begin this discussion, I would like to frame it by asking the question...

For instance, I keep meeting and seeing writers on LinkedIn who want jobs or gigs as writers, but they are not putting themselves in, what I see, as the best position.

Internet Marketing Tip: Over 7 Ways to be More Effective on LinkedIn

Many people use LinkedIn, but I have not seen a lot of people use LinkedIn very well.

LinkedIn is a great marketing resource that gets less respect than Facebook, Twitter, or Google+.

I see quite a few people with lots of Connections, but they do not seem to do anything with them once they are connected.

Other people have LinkedIn profiles, but they do not have many Connections.

Even though LinkedIn has fewer people using it than either Twitter or Facebook, LinkedIn can be an extremely effective for you to build an engaged network.

Here are over seven (7) ways to be more effective on LinkedIn.

Google+ Momentum is from Google Strength - Not Google+ Greatness

You don't need me to tell you that Google+ is has a TON of momentum, and the Google+ momentum seems to be getting even stronger by the day.  That does not necessarily mean that it is good.

I am new to using Google+, and I have barely begun to use its features.

Even so, I have my first impressions of it.

GOOGLE+ AIN'T THAT GREAT!

Even though it's connected to Google, the largest search engine in the world, I'm not completely sold on it, yet.

I predict that Google+ will not breakthrough the mainstream anywhere near where people are predicting here in early 2012.  There are several reasons for this.

Marketing Tip: Twitter Taught Me a Customer Service Lesson

As many of you know, I am new to using Twitter.  I've been using it for about a month now.

I still don't really have the "hang" of it, but I have learned a few things.

One of those lessons SHOULD have been common sense, but it was not common to ME until someone gave me a (good) dose of it.

Lesson: Send a personal message to your followers.

Marketing Tip: What a convience store taught me about social media marketing (SMM)

How would you like to get more customers?

They say that the STRONGEST marketing is done by word of mouth, and I got a reminder of that this past week.

Sometimes, the best lessons for social media marketing (SMM) is provided by examples outside of the Internet.

During this past week, I've discovered a small place with HUGE service.

This is a little dumpy looking wine shop/convenience store, called Graceland Wine Shopped in White Lake, Michigan.  For those who live close to it, is on M-59, by the new Kohl's store.

The Graceland Wine Shoppe in White Lake, MI customer service earns its great word of mouth advertising.

For years, I kept passing it.  I was curious, because I really like good quality gyros, and they post a sign in their window advertising that they serve it.  However, I would only think of this place when I was on my way to another place.
