Over 7 Reasons I Will +1, Thumbs Up, or Like Your Post or Comment

The LIKE button is great, because it is quick.  It allows us to quickly acknowledge something...that we like.
However, like most things that simplify, the Like button OVERsimplifies.

When people use the "Like" button, what do they really mean?

Personally, I feel that the Like Button is overused, yet I will occasionally use that button--likely being just as guilty as the other guy I'm accusing of overusing that social gesture convenience button.

Here is why I use the Like Button.

Logos are Nice but Only Sometimes Needed

There are some really cool logos out there, and there are some truly lame ones.  Some are even awful.
Note: I got this logo from http://thelaughmachine.wordpress.com/2009/10/28/top-5-cool-logos.

In my opinion, it does not always matter: cool logo, lame logo, or no logo.  Sometimes, it just does not make any difference to the business' bottom line--despite what so-called experts will tell you.

My (Lack of) Design Background: I still have something to offer you!

First, let me admit that I am NOT a professional designer.  I do not have anything resembling a key eye for identifying what is important to have within a design.

HOLD ON!  Don't leave, yet!

Branding Tip: How to Handle a Personal Attack (on You or Your Business)

Did they just write THAT?

No, they did not!!!  They did?!?  How DARE them!  What were they thinking?

As much as we'd like to think that everyone likes everything about us, I think we've all had thoughts like this--because they did not have anything nice to say.

Now, there is a different between somebody writing something that does not impress him or her about you or your service and somebody just opening fire and making personal attacks.

For those that need it, let's take a moment to provide examples that help explain the difference.

Keyword Research Tip: Internet Marketing Research

Keyword research is one of THE MOST IMPORTANT things, but it is also one of the most BORING things.

One of the reasons internet keyword research is so boring is that most people do not have any method of doing it.  (Don't get me wrong.  They SAY that they do, but there is a different between being able to DO it versus simply explaining it.)

I can help solve that one for you.

It is also tediously time consuming.  That I CANNOT solve for you.  Sorry!  (I wish I could solve that for myself. :)

Keyword research is so important, because it is your ONLINE market research.

What do I mean "market research?"  How does keyword research become market research?

Social Media Tip: 3 Easy Ways to Engage Yourself in Social Media

Social media is pretty much all of the rage here on the Internet.

Hardly anyone alive has not heard that you HAVE to use social media.
If we're in marketing, just about any advice includes an enormous emphasis on using social media platforms, like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, etc.

(To be fair, I've never used Pinterest, and I cannot speak with ANY intelligence about how to engage on it.)

One of the biggest pieces of advice surrounding social media that many people hear (because it is easy to TELL people to do it) but not so easy to apply is to ENGAGE your connections, friends, followers, etc.

Here are three (3) EASY ways to engage yourself by using social media.

Video Example: Be Your Own Cool - Be a Professional in Your Niche

Yodelling is cool.  Don't believe me?  Check out this video!  (It's less than 3 minutes and easy to watch!)

Often, many people try to find the "next big thing."
Honestly, there probably are a few people who can truly forecast what will make people respond, but it's not very easy.

You have to find something that meets a need--possibly a rational need but mostly an irrational need--they think they have.  You have to do this with people that you never met and most likely never will meet.

That's all guesswork.  However, there is something that you can do to increase your chances.

5 Reasons I am Giving You a LinkedIn Recommendation

LinkedIn Recommendations are great to have, and most of us using LinkedIn prefer to have as many of them as possible, especially if they are really good recommendations.

Therefore, I try to be generous when giving LinkedIn Recommendations.  I know that they make people feel good, and sometimes they can really help someone.

I take my LinkedIn Recommendations seriously, and I only make those recommendations on LinkedIn for other people if I feel they deserve it.

Sometimes, people will ask me for recommendations on LinkedIn, and I try accommodate them as much as I can, but sometimes, I just cannot do it with a clear conscience.

Over 5 Reasons This Lazy Person Is Not Reading Your Blog

Are you reading my blog? Is anyone?

That is a question that many of us are asking inside our head.

Most of us write for other people to read. We have different reasons that we write, but ultimately, writing is a form of communication. However, it fails to be communication when nobody is reading what we are trying to communicate.

Who's fault is that?

In most cases, it's our own.

Overall, I'm not lazy, but I AM a lazy reader.  I am not looking for excuses to read; I'm looking for excuses NOT to read.  I love justifying my reading laziness on YOUR blog.

I can't speak for other people, but here are five (5) reasons that I am not reading your blog.
