Laugh and Learn Video: Over 7 Selling Things I Learned Watching Kenny Brooks

Someone brought this guy to my attention last night, and I watched this video (7 minutes) again this morning.

One of the best ideas I've heard is to listen to videos of great salespeople and figure what they do.

Here is the video of Kenny Brooks.  I never heard of him before this, but I'll be paying attention to him from this point forward.  You will, too!

Here are more than seven (7) selling ideas I got while watching this video:

Event Marketing Tip: 4 Reasons to Create a Video to Promote the Event

Making videos can take some work.  At least, it is still a lot of work for ME to create them.

However, I created a video that will promote an event on July 12, 2012 at the Eastern Campus of Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) at 5901 Connor Street in Detroit, Michigan.

Even if you are not good at creating videos, here are some benefits to making a video to promote your event:

4 Ways to be Unproductive

Sometimes, I wonder whether I am actively trying to find new ways to be less productive.

I mean, I never ask myself, "How can I be unproductive today?"

On the other hand, when I look at my day in retrospect, I see things that I did and rightly ask myself, "How could I have expected myself to be productive today?" I realize that I really didn't give myself a chance.

Each day presents its different challenges, but I've noticed certain patterns of things I do (or don't do) on those "unproductive days."

Here are four (4) ways I am unproductive:

Internet Marketing Tip: Add Descriptions to Your Video Blog Posts

I have a tip that might annoy you.  I know that it might, because it annoys me.

I tend to be thorough (not always, but I usually am).  Sometimes, this can be a royal pain.

In fact, sometimes, I wonder whether I really should be so thorough.  Sometimes, that answer is "NO!"

However, I got a reminder about why I need to be thorough.

I just added my LinkedIn Company page (http://www.linkedin.com/company/the-ultimate-analyst?trk=tabs_biz_home).  I don't know, yet, whether people actually find these--either on LinkedIn or on search engines, like Google, Yahoo, and Bing.

What does this have to do with anything?

Small Business Tip: 3 Cheap Ways to Delegate Online Marketing

I got a reminder about something basic this week about online marketing--MY OWN BUSINESS.

Here is a major tip for small business owners.  You need to market, but you knew that already, right?  (That's not really my tip! :)

Almost Every Business Struggles with This

Most every small business owner has the same basic struggle.

As a business owner, you probably are spending your time working in your business, filling orders, ordering material to fill those orders, checking the quality of what you are producing, keeping records, giving good customer service, cleaning your facility (if you have one), answering phone calls, etc.  When you're busy, that's great, except what you are going to do once the customers leave?

When do you have time to market?

Online Branding Tip: 3 Ways to Confuse a Customer about Who You Are

Since I started studying internet marketing, I started to understand how easy it is for people to see things about me--my online brand.

If you have a business and you want to promote it, you probably want to make sure you understand what people will find when they "Google" your name or company.

Here are 3 ways that you can confuse your potential customer:

Video: Jeremy Miller of Sticky Branding: Rebranding for the Next Generation

This is a really good video!  Unfortunately, it is about 16 minutes.  So I will try to do a good job of summarizing it here.  (Plus, some people aren’t in position to listen to videos. :)

Jeremy Miller of Sticky Branding (http://www.StickyBranding.com) gave a talk at the CafĂ© GTA in Toronto.  Jeremy represents the second (next) generation of his family’s business.

As we know, many times, the kids who take over the business will not handle it as well as the parents did.  Sometimes, the business situation is so different that the kids who take over try to do the same things as their parents and working through the “tough new economy” (persevering)—instead of adjusting (pivoting).

From this video, I each learned and was reminded about some key things that will help me going forward.

Below here, I point out some of my observations that I made to Jeremy after I watched his video talk.

Marketing Tip: Engage Your Online Community-Don't Abuse It

Here is a marketing tip that is presented by Rand Fishkin (@RandFish) of SEO Moz (@SEOMoz), and I got the idea from Bill Rice (@BillRice) of Kaleidico (@Kaleidico).

Bill Rice included a great post on his website: http://www.kaleidico.com/blog-comment-strategy.

Within his post, he included a video (about 13 minutes) by Rand Fishkin, which discusses Comment Marketing as an Inbound Tactic (Not SPAM).

For those who do want to take the time to watch the 13 minute video, here is a summary of his online marketing tips.
