Want to make sure something gets done? Pay someone to do it!

For me, one of the most frustrating things is when I KNOW I need to do something—and know how to do it—but I keep putting off what I’m supposed to do.

Bucket of BS Excuses I Use (Pick One)
--I don’t have time to do it.
--I’m too busy doing other things.
--It bores me.
--I’m not real good at it.
--I know how to do it, but it takes me forever.
--I know that once I get started I won’t be able to get anything else done.
--I’m just feeling too lazy to do it.

I’m sure I’m missing some excuses, but those are MY most common excuses I tell myself.

If this happens to you, maybe you’re being lazy; maybe you’re not.  Honestly, I don’t really care.

When this keeps happening, I’m learning to do something about it.

Sometimes, I get a sudden surge of energy and just do it.

Most of the time, it just keeps sitting there.  So what do I do?

I PAY people!  That’s right…I pay people to do it.

What types of things do I pay people to do for me?

3 Times I Love Paying People

I pay people for several things without any regret.

1. Consulting: I pay people to show me how something works.  They’re usually happy, because they’re getting paid for showing something they already know (and often requires little to no preparation time for them).  I’m happy, because I’m scheduling time—and effort—to learn what I keep meaning to teach myself.  I learn more quickly, and it’s a lot less stressful this way.

2. Time Suckers: (This is a BIG one!) I pay people to handle tasks that I might know how to do, but I keep putting off these tasks.  When I dwell on an unfinished activity, I waste time and energy feeling guilty but not getting anything done.  It even distracts me from other things I’m doing.  Generally speaking, if I pay for it to get done, it gets done.  My business can move forward.

3. Research: I like learning new things, especially if I think I might discover something that could make me additional money later.  Maybe that person provides me an opportunity to get additional data, maybe it is my only data.  Either way, I like finding ways to test different potential money making models, and I’m willing to pay to make sure that testing gets done.

I’m learning to love to pay people…when it helps me get things done.  Sometimes, someone offers to do it for free—just to help—and it might get done but often doesn’t.  When I pay someone, it almost always gets done.

My business won’t make any money or progress if things don’t get done.  If I’m not getting them done, why not pay someone else to do it?
