A Marketing Idea for Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!

Since this is a marketing ideas blog, it's only fair that I provide you with some marketing insight.

Often we look for keywords, because that is good for SEO (search engine optimization).  It helps us get our websites and online marketing material found on search engines, like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.

Using good keywords for SEO is a good long-term marketing strategy.

However, sometimes you just want a shot in the arm to get you some results TODAY!

Today, you can include things about Thanksgiving.  Think of things that people are likely to search on or near Thanksgiving:
  • History of Thanksgiving
  • 3 Reasons Most People Forget to be Thankful
  • Best ways to carve a Thanksgiving turkey
  • Best places to buy a Thanksgiving turkey
  • Best ways to cook a Thanksgiving turkey
  • Great Sides to Make for Thanksgiving dinner
  • Best places to shop after Thanksgiving
  • Best Day After Thanksgiving Sales
  • Great Cyber Monday Deals
  • How to take advantage of Day After Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday Sales
I think that you're getting the idea.

Find a way to tie in what you are doing to what people are searching today.

This online marketing strategy will not bear fruit when it is not in season, but if you time it right, it could be the shot in the arm that your business needs.  This is great for each social media and short-term SEO marketing methods.

Obviously, this approach applies to other times besides Thanksgiving, like Christmas, Easter, Hanukkah, Passover, Ramadan, Kwanza, etc.

To which other holidays or events you can apply this technique?
