Are you missing YOUR Big Opportunity?

Are we really just unlucky, or is it something else?

I was talking with a business owner today, and he was telling me about a few different people who approached him while they were looking for work.

Person #1: She had a unique skill that could really help his business.  The owner offered her a part-time position with the potential of going full-time.  This worker was talented and very detail-oriented, but this person had a bad attitude.  This person is no longer on the payroll.

Person #2: This person was offered a much higher than market rate to complete a certain task, and he was
allowed to repeat this task as often as he would like.  This is the type of task that someone could complete as often as 4 or 5 times per day, if focused.  This person, however, only has completed this task about 6 times within a 3 or 4 month period.  This guy is still there but not making any money.

Person #3: This person approached the owner and asked for work.  The owner kept putting off this person, but he kept returning.  Eventually, the owner offered this guy a job, but the owner demanded that this guy create his own revenue.  This guy did.  However, the business changed, and the owner didn't need the services that the guy was performing, anymore.  That didn't affect this guy.  He just learned something else, something that the owner really needed for his business.  He is still there and continues to thrive to this day.

The owner gave all three people opportunities to thrive, but only one of them really took advantage of it in the right way.

Many of us think that things would be better for us, if only we were luckier, but if we really want to succeed, we need to ask ourselves whether we have some opportunities in front of already that we're overlooking.

It's not always about whether you're lucky.  It's almost always about what you do with the luck that comes your way.

Are you recognizing your luck that's coming your way?  If you're around the right people, that luck probably is probably already there.  It's just simply a question of whether you're willing to pick up that winning lottery ticket from the ground and cash it.

Recognize your luck, and grab your success, but you'll only see it with the right attitude.
