17 Ways Rich People and Poor People Think Differently

This is a list that was created by J and A Home Buyers, but I thought it was pretty good, and figured that it would benefit anyone reading this.

As I get older and more experienced (or sometimes just older :), I notice that there really IS a difference between the way that a rich and poor person think.

Here is the list of the 17 differences they list within the video:

  1. Rich people believe that THEY create their life.  Poor people believe that life “happens” to them.
  2. Rich people play the money game to win.  Poor people play the money game to lose.
  3. Rich people are committed to being rich.  Poor people “want” to be rich.
  4. Rich people think big.  Poor people think small.
  5. Rich people focus on opportunity.  Poor people focus on obstacles.
  6. Rich people admire other rich and successful people.  Poor people resent successful rich people.
  7. Rich people associate with successful people.  Poor people associate with negative people.
  8. Rich people are willing to promote themselves and their values.  Poor people do not.
  9. Rich people are bigger than their problems.  Poor people are smaller than their problems.
  10. Rich people are excellent receivers.  Poor people are poor receivers.
  11. Rich people choose to get paid based on results.  Poor people choose to get paid based on time.
  12. Rich people think “both.”  Poor people think “or.”
  13. Rich people focus on their net worth.  Poor people focus on their working income.
  14. Rich people manage their money well.  Poor people mismanage their money well.
  15. Rich people have their money work hard for them.  Poor people work hard for their money.
  16. Rich people act in spite of fear.  Poor people let fear stop them.
  17. Rich people constantly learn and grow.  Poor people think they know it all.
There are many people who feel that they are victims.  However, at my last significant job, I knew people that made more than me--considerably more--yet they still never had any money.

Yes, you're reading that correctly.  They made MORE money than me but saved LESS than me.

It's true that wealthy people have a different attitude, and they have different habits.  Most people can create their own luck--good or bad.

The same applies to people who market.  So much of marketing is defined by attitude.  You can create your own path to success--or failure.  Yes, things happen, but the difference between a successful person and an unsuccessful person is defined by the way that they react to it.

We all have "junk" that happens in our lives.  Successful marketers are always working yet looking for upcoming changes--and doing what they can to prepare for those changes.

Marketing can be one of the greatest professions or businesses, because it IS so creative, but it also requires discipline.  You will not have any chance of maintaining your discipline when things get rough (and they will--at some point), UNLESS you have the right attitude toward attacking them.

Every problem either is an opportunity for you to solve it, or it can remain a problem for you...and someone else can solve it...and get the business.

Which would YOU prefer?
  • Successful or Unsuccessful?
  • Rich or Poor?
  • Good Attitude or Bad Attitude?
